Discover Our Medical-Grade Full Lace Cap Construction

This 3D breakdown video shows how our silicone-lined medical wig cap is engineered for comfort, secure anti-slip grip, and all-day wear — even for sensitive or hair-loss scalps.

Why Soul Lady Make This Product?

When we looked at what this category offered, the prices were far beyond what most people can absorb during treatment, and we could not find these caps presented for Black women - not in the products, not in the photography.

So we built one: the cap construction that matters for a bare scalp, in shades and textures that suit natural and coily hair, at a fraction of the category price. It is the most expensive thing we sell, and it is still under six hundred dollars.

FAQ – What You May Like to Know

1. What is a medical wig?

A medical wig is designed for women experiencing hair loss caused by medical conditions, treatments, or other reasons. These wigs focus on providing a natural appearance, comfortable fit, and confidence during hair loss.

2. Are medical wigs suitable for sensitive scalps?

Yes. Many women choose medical wigs because they offer lightweight designs and soft materials that feel gentle on sensitive scalps. Choosing the right cap construction and fit can help improve comfort for everyday wear.

3. Will people be able to tell that I’m wearing a medical wig?

Not necessarily. Our medical wigs are designed with natural-looking hairlines, realistic textures, and beautiful colors to create an appearance that looks and feels like your own hair.

4. Can I wear a medical wig every day?

Yes. Many women wear medical wigs daily. Choosing a comfortable cap, lightweight construction, and a style that matches your lifestyle can make everyday wear easier and more enjoyable.

5. How do I care for my medical wig?

To keep your wig looking beautiful, gently wash it with products designed for wigs, avoid excessive heat, and store it properly when not in use.

6. Can I return or exchange a medical wig?

Please review our return policy before purchasing. For hygiene reasons, wigs that have been worn, altered, or customized may have specific return restrictions.

7. What does "medical-grade" actually mean?

It describes the material standard of the silicone used in the cap - silicone manufactured to be skin-safe, odour-free and non-reactive against prolonged contact with skin. It does not mean the wig treats, prevents or improves hair loss or any other condition, and it is not a medical device. It is a comfort and construction standard.

If you have questions about your scalp, your treatment, or when it is right to start wearing a wig, please speak to your medical team.

8. How is the cap actually built?

The cap is built in seven zones, because different parts of your head need different things.

Crown and parting: silk top base over crystal lace, giving a realistic scalp appearance and a parting you can move.
Front hairline: 3D-cut Swiss lace, durable, soft and nearly invisible, shaped to the curve of the head.
Perimeter edge: medical-grade silicone edging, seamlessly joined so nothing hard sits against the skin.
Side and back panels: breathable mesh, soft and elastic, across the areas that trap the most heat.
Grip strips: medical-grade silicone that holds through friction rather than adhesive or tension.
Structural bands: lace base that keeps the shape without adding weight.
Hair attachment: 100% hand-tied, each strand knotted individually so the hair moves and parts in any direction.

9. What does a medical wig usually cost?

In the United States, a human hair cranial prosthesis - the clinical term for a medical wig - commonly sells for $2,000 to $5,000, with custom units running higher. Ours is $548.

The difference is the route to you. Medical wigs are usually sold through salons, clinics and specialist studios, each of which adds a margin. We sell online only, so there is no salon, clinic or distributor markup between us and you. We also make one style rather than bespoke units, which removes the fitting and production overhead that custom work carries.

It is not a lower specification - it is hand-tied, full lace, silk top and silicone-lined, which is what the $2,000 to $5,000 units are.

10. Can I get a medical wig covered by insurance or for free?

Possibly, and we would rather you checked before buying from us.

Free programmes first. The American Cancer Society, CancerCare and several alopecia foundations provide wigs at no cost to people who qualify. Your treatment centre's social worker or patient navigator will know what is available where you are.

Insurance next. Many US plans cover a cranial prosthesis. A claim generally needs three documents: a prescription from your doctor with an ICD-10 diagnosis code, a Letter of Medical Necessity, and an itemised receipt from the seller.

What we can provide: an itemised receipt showing the item described as a cranial prosthesis, HCPCS codes A9282 and S8095, the purchase date, your name, the amount and confirmation of payment. Email service@soulladywigs.com to request one.

What we cannot provide: we are an online retailer, not a US healthcare provider, so we do not hold an NPI. Some plans require the seller's NPI, and those claims will not go through with our receipt. Please call your insurer before ordering and ask whether they require a supplier NPI. If they do, a local wig studio that bills insurance directly is the better route for you, even at a higher price.

11. Why is it sometimes out of stock, and why does restocking take 45 days?

Medical-grade silicone degrades in storage. Held too long it hardens and loses the soft grip that makes the cap comfortable, so we deliberately keep stock small - 50 units per batch - instead of warehousing hundreds that would sit and age.

If the product page shows in stock, we dispatch in 3 to 5 business days.

If it shows out of stock, we are mid-restock. An order placed then takes around 45 days before it ships. That is the genuine production cycle for a hand-tied, silicone-lined full lace cap - it is not a delay, it is how long the piece takes to make.

If you need one by a specific date, email service@soulladywigs.com before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

12. Why is customization not offered on medical wigs?

Colour, cap size, length, curl pattern and density cannot be customised on this wig. The seven-zone cap is built as one engineered unit, and altering any part of it compromises the fit and the silicone seal. We would rather decline the request than sell you a cap that does not perform.

The cap is built to a standard 22.5 inch circumference, and the high-elastic structure at the sides adapts to head circumferences from 21.5 to 24 inches. If you need a custom cap size, our glueless wear-and-go wigs do offer custom sizing through our Customization Service.

13. What do customers say about this wig?

This is one review from our Trustpilot page, published exactly as it was written:

"I am a cancer patient, I have brought so many different wigs since diagnoised in 2022. I just received my first Soul Lady wig. It is the the medium brown grey bob wig. And I love it!!! The first and only one, that has satisfied me. Thank you Soul lady for making me feel like myself again!!!"

We hold a 4.0 rating across more than 500 reviews, and we reply to every negative one.

We did not write that last line, and we did not ask for it. It is the reason this page exists.
