Is Medium Salt & Pepper your shade?

Yes, if: your gray has spread past your temples into your part line and across the top of your head. It is obvious in a daylight photo without zooming in, but your hair is not yet mostly silver.

Yes, also, if you simply are not sure. Medium is the blend that goes wrong least often. It sits close enough to a dark base that early gray blends in, and close enough to silver that advanced gray does not clash.

Look lighter, if: your gray is now visible everywhere including the back and underneath. Standard Salt & Pepper will match better.

Why this shade works on so many people

Gray rarely arrives evenly. Most women gray at the temples and part line first, which means that for several years their hair is genuinely a mix rather than one colour. Medium is built to sit in that middle, which is why it reads as real on a wider range of hair than either end of the range.

It is also the most forgiving under different lighting. Fully silver blends can look flat under warm indoor light, and very dark blends can lose their gray entirely. Medium holds its character in both.

Good to know before you order

Curly textures shrink. Kinky curly and jerry curly hang about 4 inches shorter than the stated length, water wave about 2 inches shorter, and straight textures hang true to length. If you are between sizes on a curly style, order one length longer.

Cap fit. Our standard cap measures 22.5 inches with a breathable elastic band and adjustable drawstring, so you set the fit yourself. Custom sizes are available through our Customization Service.

Frequently asked questions

Is Medium the same as the shade in your photos?
On most styles, yes. Where a product is photographed in more than one blend we label which one the model is wearing. Keep in mind that wigs can read slightly darker in person than in studio lighting.

I have about half gray. Is Medium or Standard better?
Look at where the gray sits rather than how much there is. If your crown and part line are gray but the back and underneath are still dark, choose Medium. If the gray runs all the way through, choose Standard.

Does this shade come in glueless styles?
Yes. Headband, V-part and wear-and-go styles in Medium need no adhesive, which makes them suitable if your edges are thinning or you have traction alopecia.
